We are obsessed with steady voltage. We equate a consistent emotional state with spiritual maturity. When our faith sputters—when we feel the doubt, the anxiety, or the sudden drop in power—we panic. We call it a failure. We call it a "glitch."
But in the dark, a steady light is passive. A flickering light is active.
A flicker represents a violent resistance against the darkness. It is the physics of refusal. That stutter in your soul isn't evidence that your light is out; it is evidence that it is fighting to stay on. It is the conflict between the crushing weight of the world and the Spirit inside you refusing to yield.
Isaiah 42 gives us the operational profile of God in these low-voltage moments. He is not a technician looking to discard a faulty part.
"A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out." (Isaiah 42:3)
He doesn't despise the smoke. He doesn't condemn the flicker. He knows that the only thing required to turn a smoldering wick into a roaring fire is Breath.
Do not hate the struggle. The glitch isn't the end of your faith; it is the proof of your resistance.
