"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." — Isaiah 43:2
Notice the word God uses. He does not say "If." He says "When."
The promise of scripture is not that we will avoid the storm. We live in a broken world where the floods of sorrow and the fires of trial are inevitable. This design visualizes that reality in its rawest form—the collision of elemental chaos.
The Overwhelming Waves
On the left, the thick, turbulent swirls of deep blue and grey represent the waters. In the Bible, the sea often represents chaos, the unknown, and overwhelming circumstances that threaten to drown us. These are the trials that feel cold and suffocating—depression, grief, or situations where you feel "in over your head."
The Consuming Fire
On the right, the canvas erupts into jagged, intense strokes of red, orange, and gold. This represents the fire—the trials of purification, conflict, or sudden destruction. These are the painful moments that threaten to burn everything we have built to the ground.
The Unmovable Center
Standing firmly between these two destructive forces is the glowing Cross. It is not consumed by the fire, nor is it drowned by the flood. It stands as the physical embodiment of the promise: "I will be with you."
The Cross pushes back the darkness on both sides. It creates a path through the elements. The promise of Isaiah 43 is not an escape route; it is an assurance of survival. Because He is with us, the water cannot sweep us away, and the fire cannot consume us. We walk through the middle, protected by His presence.
This design is a reminder: You might be in the fire today, or you might be in the flood. But if you look to the center, you are not alone.
