Thermal Limits In industrial specs, a "duty cycle" represents the amount of time a machine can operate under load versus the time it needs to cool down.
Very few machines are rated for a "100% duty cycle." If you take a welder rated for a 60% cycle and run it full throttle without stopping, you will melt the internal windings. It is not a matter of "trying harder." It is thermal physics. If heat input exceeds heat dissipation, catastrophe is inevitable.
Running Redline We treat our souls with less regard than we treat cheap power tools. We buy into the lie of the "hustle," believing we can run at redline indefinitely. We view rest as a defect, something to be embarrassed by.
We think we are running the machine effectively, but we are just slowly cooking the internals. If you refuse to schedule downtime, your body will eventually schedule a catastrophic failure for you.
Required Maintenance You were not designed by your Manufacturer for a 100% duty cycle. You were engineered with a requirement for rest.
Psalm 46:10 is not a poetic suggestion for a quiet morning; it is an operational imperative. "Be still." It is the required cooling period to prevent structural failure.
Stop acting like the laws of physics don't apply to you. Rest is not laziness. Rest is required maintenance.
